Position Summary: The Bionanomaterials Laboratory led by Prof. Shaoqin Sarah Gong in the Department of Biomedical Engineering and Wisconsin Institute for Discovery is searching for a postdoctoral research associate to work on the design, synthesis, and evaluation of innovative multifunctional nanoparticles to deliver various payloads (e.g., CRISPR genome editors, nucleic acids, proteins, peptides and small molecule drugs) for the treatment of a wide range of diseases including vascular, brain, and eye diseases. The Gong lab collaborates with many research groups at the University of Wisconsin-Madison School of Medicine and Public Health and conducts highly interdisciplinary research. In recent years, our team has developed many novel and impactful nanoplatforms (e.g., Nature nanotechnology, 14(10), 974-980. Advanced Materials, 31(43), 1902626. Nature cell biology, 19(11), 1358-1370.) The Bionanomaterials Laboratory has well-equipped facility to carry out research ranging from material synthesis to cell and animal experiments. The Gong lab is located at the Wisconsin Institute for Discovery (https://discovery.wisc.edu/) in Madison, WI, one of the best cities to live in USA. Salary and benefits (e.g., health insurance) will be set commensurate with experience and qualifications as well as guidelines of NIH and UW-Madison.
Position Qualification: Candidates should have a PhD degree in a relevant field including Chemistry/Chemical Engineering/Biomedical Engineering/Pharmacy, etc. Ideal candidates should have a good publication record and a strong background in nanomedicines and polymer chemistry. Researchers with experience in gene therapy, cancer immunotherapy, or animal experiments will be a plus.
