Psychology Postdoctoral Fellow at Texas A&M Health Science Center College Of Medicine
Job Description:
The Psychology Postdoctoral Fellow, under general supervision, provides psychological treatment and crisis intervention, consultation, and programming. This position will assist leadership in research initiatives and clinical service delivery with the Telebehavioral Care Program. This individual will maintain a caseload of their own clients and support the Health and Human Services Office of Population Affairs: Tier 2 Innovation Network grant by coordinating meetings, reports, interviews, and other duties as assigned. This individual should be committed to innovation in access to care especially as it relates to youth. This individual may supervise and coordinate doctoral- level graduate students' time in delivering mental health counseling to remote sites in Texas as well as other duties assigned.
Required Education:
Doctoral program in counseling or clinical psychology. Minimum of 550 clinical/direct contact hours. At least one practicum in a university/college counseling center setting
Required Experience:
One year of clinical experience.
Required Licenses and Certifications:
Candidates must have passed Doctoral qualifying examinations before beginning internship.
Required Special Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
Processes of clinical supervision of trainees in psychology
Strong oral and written communication skills
Experience in evidence-based treatment methods
Comfortable with learning new technology and delivering services via telehealth.
Ability to multi-task and work cooperatively with others and resolve conflict.
Ability to perform all tasks and responsibilities safely without injury to self and others in compliance with A&M
System and HSC guidelines.
Preferred Education:
Doctoral degree (Ph.D. or Psy.D.) in a health service psychology field acceptable to the Texas State Board of Examiners of Psychologists (TSBEP) for licensure.
Scientist/Practitioner model doctoral degree (Ph.D.) in a health service psychology field from an APA
Accredited program that includes education in relevant profession wide competencies (e.g., ethics, assessment, intervention), experiential education (i.e. practicum) and a one-year of internship in a health service psychology setting.
Preferred Experience:
Providing counseling in a community, Veterans Administration, school, or healthcare setting; psychological services via telehealth; and working with interdisciplinary care teams.
Experience providing wellness assessment, brief intervention, and trauma care to veterans and/or first-responders is highly desirable.
Experiences consistent with doctoral degree in a health service psychology
Preferred Special Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
Clinical experience with telehealth counseling, psychological assessment, work with veterans/firs responders, and trauma resolution.
Experience working with diverse individuals and communities
Job Responsibilities:
Provides evidence-based counseling to individuals, couples, and groups, including crisis intervention services.
Engages in counseling related activities including maintaining counseling records, administering and interpreting psychological tests/inventories, making referrals, and managing various organizational and administrative aspects of counseling cases.
Consults with health care providers and social service agencies to coordinate care for clients.
Engages in applied research and evaluation activities. Publishes and/or disseminates the results of research and evaluation efforts.
Coordinates a minor program or assists in the coordination of a major program.
Provides presentations for University or community audiences about counseling services, programs, organization, professional development topics and issues, etc. Provides professional presentations at local, regional, and national conferences and workshops.
May provide supervision for Master/Doctoral level students in Counseling, Clinical, and School Psychology, and adjunct supervision for Doctoral interns. May supervise assigned staff.
Provides training seminars in the area of job function and professional expertise.
Performs other duties as assigned.
