The Epigenetics of Metabolites: Pioneering the interface of chromatin, cancer, metabolism and transcription
We are seeking postdocs for two exciting frontline projects. First, we have identified a chromatin remodeling enzyme that is important for DNA repair in cancer and regulates the turnover of DNA-damage recruited PARP enzymes. We are now keen to investigate at the biochemical, cell biological and structural level how this and other remodellers respond to the activation of NAD-dependent PARP signaling in cancer. Second, we have identified novel nuclear receptor proteins for specific cellular metabolites. We are now poised to establish these new paradigms of biological regulation, going from resolution of atoms to animals and from chemical biology to physiological approaches.
Prerequisites:
Postdoc candidates are expected to be highly motivated, curious, project-, task- and team-oriented, to have great verbal and written English skills and to enjoy working together on pioneering projects at the forefront of biomolecular recognition. Ideally, they have a background in gene regulation, chromatin biology or metabolism, and technical expertise in one of the following areas:
- Biochemistry and biophysical analysis of proteins and their complexes
- Protein engineering, chemical biology and enzymology
- X-ray crystallography and cryo-EM analysis
Position:
The successful candidate will have the opportunity to collaborate and work across our outstanding campus. The salary will be based on the public scale TV-L E13. The employment is planned for 3 years and can be extended.
