Postdoctoral Research Associate
The Nectow Laboratory at Columbia University is looking to fill a position for a motivated and talented postdoctoral fellow. The lab studies the neurobiology of energy balance (i.e. appetite and energy expenditure) using state-of-the-art imaging, molecular, and functional techniques in mice. We also develop novel technologies to characterize and manipulate neural circuits.
We are currently looking for exceptional candidates with a strong background in neuroscience, particularly with expertise in molecular and systems neuroscience, but we are always looking for talented people regardless of scientific background. A motivated and organized individual who is able to work independently, but within a strong team setting is required.
Minimum qualifications for Grade:
Applicants MUST meet this minimum qualifications to be considered an applicant:
A PhD, MD, or equivalent doctoral training. Experience in neuroscience, biology, engineering, or a closely related field.
Additional position-specific qualifications
Some of the following are desirable (but not absolutely necessary) qualifications: a strong background working with mice; experience with advanced techniques in neuroscience (such as optogenetics/chemogenetics, stereotactic rodent surgery, electrophysiology, microscopy, histology, and/or molecular profiling); and/or molecular biology techniques.
We are always looking for individuals of exceptional talent that do not necessarily have a strong background in neuroscience (but do have a strong background in, for example, biomedical/materials engineering, chemistry, synthetic biology, computer science,and/or experimental physics/applied mathematics).
