Research within the Centre for Sports, Exercise & Life Sciences (CSELS) reflects a broad range of clinical, exercise and biological associated sciences to understand life from the level of molecules through to the whole body. The Centre has considerable expertise, ranging from microbiology, cell biology, genomic and molecular biology, biochemistry, nutrition and food science, safety pharmacology, physiology, physical activity and sport performance.
As part of our research strategy, the Centre is looking to appoint a highly motivated post-doctoral Research Fellow to develop our portfolio of research in the area of clinical cardiovascular exercise physiology. The Research Fellow will play a lead role in the development of impactful research and consultancy activity and involve development, evaluation and implementation of interventions and technologies to prevent, diagnose and manage cardiovascular diseases.
This role will provide the Research Fellow with the opportunity to work with both industrial and academic partners and provides opportunity to develop the application of scientific expertise in applied settings.
The successful candidate will have a PhD in an appropriate clinical exercise related discipline, extensive research expertise and focus in the area of lifestyle interventions and technological advancements to improve patient outcomes and clinical practice in management of cardiovascular disease.
In additional you will have advanced knowledge of research methods and techniques used in an appropriate clinical exercise physiology related subject, be able to develop research objectives, projects and proposals for own and joint research and write up research for publication in high profile peer reviewed journals and present at national /international peer-reviewed conferences.
Other essential requirements include; relevant project management experience, IT skills and other specialist research software, advanced knowledge of research methods and techniques used in an appropriate life sciences subject, experience of collecting evidence of research impact and capable of leading the day to day project activity, taking the initiative and ownership of project tasks but working in a collaborative manner with others.
This role provides a unique opportunity to join one of the UK's most forward thinking and successful modern Universities at a time of rapid expansion in our research capacity. The position is for three years, in the first instance, and will be based in our new purpose-built research laboratories on the Coventry city campus.
