The GOFARR LABORATORY for Organ Regenerative Research and Cell Therapeutics is looking for a talented and highly motivated Post-Doc with a special interest in biomedical and tissue engineering, microphysiological systems (Organ-on-a- chip) for the study of kidney disease, with a particular focus on membranous nephropathy, focal segmental glomerulosclerosis (FSGS), diabetic nephropathy and genetic disorders like Alport syndrome.

Position Summary: Training to help develop the academic knowledge and research fundamentals, teaching expertise and administrative experience necessary to be an exemplary researcher. Perform laboratory work and conduct research activities independently or in collaboration with the Principal Investigator. Publish results in scientific manuscripts and research publications. Participate in seminars, meetings, trainings and other educational sessions.

Minimum Qualifications:

◦Expertise in working with different cell types, in vitro primary cells culture, as well as knowledge of molecular and cell biology concepts and techniques.

◦Expertise in immunostaining and imaging (including confocal).

◦Documented track record of research evidenced by successful publishing in scientific journals.

◦Previous research experience on kidney is highly desirable.

◦Candidate will take a leading role in the lab’s research’s projects, where (s)he will be encouraged to run his/her on-chip studies.

In addition, this position is to work on a newly NIH-funded study that focuses on the investigation of alternative mechanisms of injury in membranous nephropathy using a newly developed glomerulus-on-a-chip system (Nat Commun 10, 3656 (2019)).

Education: PhD in Biotechnology, Biomedical Engineering, Biology, Biochemistry, Tissue Engineering, Nephrology, Developmental Biology or related technical fields with robust research background relevant to the specified areas for this postdoctoral position.
