  Job Description

  The Division of Materials Sciences and Engineering with Iowa State University at the Ames Laboratory, a Department of Energy National Laboratory affiliated with Iowa State University, is searching for a qualified Postdoctoral Research Associate.

  The postdoctoral research associate will conduct research focused on discovery and studies of magnetic topological materials. Successful candidate is expected to interact with theorists who will predict new materials, collaboration on synthesis of single crystals, their thermodynamic and transport characterization, often via quantum oscillation measurement, and studies of their electronic properties using Angle Resolved Photoemission Spectroscopy. Second aspect of research is tuning the electronic properties of magnetic topological materials using uniaxial and biaxial pressure as well as chemical doping.

  The ideal candidate is able to communicate effectively to a wide variety of audiences.

  Required Qualifications: 1). Ph.D. must be completed prior to start date.

  Preferred Qualifications: 1). Ph.D. in Physics or closely related field. 2). Experience with discovery of topological materials: synthesis, broad characterization and understanding of ARPES data. 3). Experience with tuning properties of topological materials using strain and chemical doping. 4). Experience with design and operation of cryogenic piezo strain devices.
