Research Description
Our research focus is the pathogenesis of Alzheimer disease (AD). A post-doctoral (PDF) position is available for a highly motivated, dedicated individual to investigate the effect of AD-related proteins on the genome.
She/he will investigate gene regulation to (i) advance our understanding of early AD pathogenesis and (ii) identify novel targets for early (pre-clinical) detection and prevention of AD. Funded by several agencies (e.g. CIHR, NSERC), my laboratory is situated in the McGill Life Sciences Complex which enables convenient access to leading-edge facilities (e.g. advanced bioImaging, flow cytometry (FACS), histology, mass spectrometry, surface plasmon resonance (SPR/BIACORE), CRISPR-Cas9 transgenics; www.mcgill.ca/lifesciencescomplex). Our integrated, multidisciplinary research environment also includes the world-class McGill University & Genome Quebec Innovation Centre which houses state-of-the-art genomics infrastructure (e.g. sequencing, gene expression, genotyping, cytogenetics, and DNA methylation analyses; http://gqinnovationcenter.com)
Qualifications
Applicants should possess a strong background in Genomics, as well as Biochemistry (or related discipline), ideally with work-related experience including peer-reviewed publications and conference presentations. She/he must be highly organized, work effectively within a team environment, be able to meet laboratory
deadlines, and possess strong oral and written communication skills. She/he will participate in the training and supervision of fellow trainees, as well as the preparation of laboratory grants, manuscripts, presentations, and reports.
