An exciting opportunity to be part of a pioneering biomedical research institute, dedicated to innovation and science. A postdoctoral research post in the laboratory of Mariia Yuneva is now available. We are looking for a proactive, enthusiastic, productive and collegial individual to carry out the research on the role of metabolic pathways in tumours using genetic and metabolomics approaches in vivo. The successful applicant will use a range of techniques including genetics, metabolomics, molecular biology and biochemistry. For more information about this research, please visit Yuneva’s lab external website: https://www.crick.ac.uk/research/labs/mariia-yuneva.

The successful applicant will have good communication and organisational skills and a PhD in Cell Biology, Biochemistry, Molecular Biology, Cancer Biology or similar (or in the final stages of completion). Experience in at least one of the following is a plus: mass spectrometry, metabolomics, animal handling and surgery, cancer models. Candidates with the experience in cancer metabolism will be given a priority.

  The Yuneva Lab

We are a group of highly motivated young scientists who are seeking to understand how metabolism is changed in cancer cells and how these changes contribute to cellular transformation. Using in vivo models and state of the art metabolomics approaches we are aiming to uncover the role of metabolic pathways in different aspects of tumour biology and develop new metabolism-based therapeutic approaches. We provide highly competitive but also very collaborative and friendly environment, which greatly benefits from the state of the art facilities and technology platforms of the Francis Crick Institute.

  About us

The Francis Crick Institute is a biomedical discovery institute dedicated to understanding the fundamental biology underlying health and disease. Its work is helping to understand why disease develops and to translate discoveries into new ways to prevent, diagnose and treat illnesses such as cancer, heart disease, stroke, infections, and neurodegenerative diseases.

An independent organisation, its founding partners are the Medical Research Council (MRC), Cancer Research UK, Wellcome, UCL (University College London), Imperial College London and King’s College London.

The Crick was formed in 2015, and in 2016 it moved into a new state-of-the-art building in central London which brings together 1500 scientists and support staff working collaboratively across disciplines, making it the biggest biomedical research facility under in one building in Europe.

The Francis Crick Institute will be world-class with a strong national role. Its distinctive vision for excellence includes commitments to collaboration; developing emerging talent and exporting it the rest of the UK; public engagement; and helping turn discoveries into treatments as quickly as possible to improve lives and strengthen the economy.
