美国杜克大学生物医学工程方向博士后招聘
Postdoc Position: Engineering of Optogenetic Tools for Neuroscience
A postdoctoral position in developing neurotechnologies is available in the Department of Biomedical Engineering at Duke University (Durham, NC, USA) in the group of Prof. Yiyang Gong. The lab is interested in expanding the set of novel protein tools and microscopy tools to optically record and control neural activity. Recent publications of the lab were geared toward optical voltage imaging (Gong et. al. Science, 2015) of many neurons simultaneously in live animals. Under recent BRAIN Initiative and NIH funding, the lab is expanding the optogenetics toolbox by producing new protein sensors, optics, and neuroscientific studies: (1) The lab is engineering additional protein voltage sensors geared toward parallel recordings; (2) The lab is creating innovative one-photon and two-photon microscopy imaging technologies; (3) The lab is exploring fast voltage dynamics in the mouse cortex. Together, the diverse opportunities for research will prepare candidates to establish an independent research program in modern neuroscience, investigating the complete pathway from molecular biology to animal behavior.
Applicants should have completed a Ph.D. or is nearing completion of a Ph.D. in bioengineering, biomedical engineering, biophysics, neuroscience, neurobiology, optics, molecular or cell biology, or related fields with a strong experimental background, academic history, and publication record. Because of the broad nature of studies in protein engineering and neuroscience, prior experience could significantly accelerate progress. The lab is interested in candidates with experience in any of the following:
• Optical Microscopy
• Mouse behavior and mouse genetic models
• Computational neuroscience/computational biology
• Molecular biology
The lab has open positions starting in January 2019 for durations of up to two years.
Qualified candidates should submit a CV, the names and contact information of three (3) references, and cover letter with description of research interests directly to Yiyang Gong at neuroscience.toolbox@gmail.com.
