This post will be a fixed-term contract for 3 years.

  This is a full-time post.

We are seeking a skilled and enthusiastic postdoctoral electrophysiologist with an interest in pain biology.  During the project, you will have a unique opportunity to uncover the cellular and molecular mechanisms responsible for fibromyalgia, a common chronic pain condition with a hitherto unexplained aetiology and pathophysiology. The postholder will use patch clamp, [Ca2+]i-imaging, skin-nerve electrophysiology and histochemical methods to identify the neurons and ion channels responsible for pain in fibromyalgia.  You will work in the laboratories of David Andersson and Stuart Bevan in the Wolfson CARD at Guy’s Campus, King’s College London. The project will provide ample opportunity to learn additional methods, write high quality publications, present your results at conferences, and to pursue ground breaking research that will have an immediate impact on our understanding and treatment of a human disease.

The position is available for 3 years and is funded by the Medical Research Council. To qualify for the position you need a PhD and a curious, innovative mindset.  A good understanding of neuronal transduction, transmission and ion channels is highly desirable.

Please direct informal inquiries to Dr David Andersson: david.andersson@kcl.ac.uk.

The selection process will include a presentation and a panel interview.

For an informal discussion to find out more about the role please contact: David Andersson, david.andersson@kcl.ac.uk

To apply, please register with the King's College London application portal and complete your application online.
