We are seeking a highly motivated and proactive Postdoctoral Researcher to join the research group of Dr Alexander Clarke at the University of Oxford.
The germinal centre (GC) reaction is responsible for the production of high-affinity antibodies and immune memory. You will use a combination of experimental techniques to explore the metabolism of the germinal centre in patients with lupus and model the findings in transgenic and autoimmune-prone mice, with the aim of developing new therapeutic approaches. You will also provide guidance to less experienced members of the research group including postdocs, research assistants, technicians, PhD and project students.
You will be based at the world-famous Kennedy Institute of Rheumatology, University of Oxford, which provides outstanding support facilities, an intellectually stimulating environment, and carries out world-class research in the fields of immunology, autoimmunity, inflammation, tissue regeneration, with a long term objective of translating this research into clinical application.
You will hold a relevant PhD/DPhil, together with relevant experience in standard techniques of immunology. You will also have a demonstrable track record in immunology, evidenced by first author publications in high quality, peer-reviewed journals with the ability to manage your own academic research and associated activities. Excellent communication skills are essential, including the ability to write for publication, present research proposals and results, and represent the research group at meetings, evidenced by presentations at national and international scientific meetings. Experience and expertise in B cell immunology and metabolomics would be desirable.

This is a full-time appointment fixed-term for 3 years in the first instance.
