瑞典哥德堡招收博士后职位
The research group of Dr. Mahlapuu at Univ. of Gothenburg is seeking a highly motivated and talented post-doctoral fellow for studies of the molecular pathogenesis underlying type 2 diabetes and non-alcoholic fatty liver disease (NAFLD) with the long-term goal of finding new treatment strategies. The successful applicant will have a key role in a project that is in the front line of metabolic research in lipid partitioning and insulin sensitivity. The project is translational including studies in human cell lines, unique mouse models, and well-characterized patient cohorts.
The research group of Dr. Mahlapuu is part of a large network of diabetes researchers at the University of Gothenburg, Sweden and has excellent experimental infrastructure and extensive international collaborations.
Description of the studies
The candidate will study the molecular mechanisms controlling lipid partitioning and insulin sensitivity in peripheral tissues prone to diabetic damage, with the focus on new key mediator – serine/threonine protein kinase 25 (STK25). The candidate will use cultured cells and expression analysis in human samples; however, the main focus will be on in vivo studies in mouse models where gene functions are modified genetically or by pharmacological agonists/antagonists.
Qualifications
The eligible applicant for a post-doc scholarship must hold a PhD degree within a relevant field obtained not later than 4 years estimated from Oct 2018 and is expected to have a strong record of scientific productivity with publications as first author in internationally renowned journals. The applicant must not have been employed at University of Gothenburg in the past two years.
The applicant must have extensive experimental background in in vivo studies in mice as well as experience in cell culture. Previous research experience in type 2 diabetes and/or fatty liver disease is beneficial. The successful applicant is expected to plan, execute, and analyze experiments in an independent manner and to contribute scientifically to the group.
Candidates must have excellent oral and written communication skills in English.
Written application, including reference number (E 2018/566), is to be sent via e-mail to the contact person specified below and must include the following: CV, Personal letter stating the reasons why the study suits the applicant (maximum 1/2 A4 page), List of publications, References (2)).
