丹麦技术大学计算蛋白质化学方向博士后职位招聘
Postdoc in Computational Protein Chemistry : 2800 Kgs. Lyngby, Denmark
A two-year postdoctoral position in computational protein chemistry is available at DTU Chemistry starting from November 1, 2018 or as soon as possible thereafter in the group of Professor Kasper P. Kepp. Approximately 9 months of the project is planned to take place at Cambridge University in the Blundell group. The project is financed by the Independent Research Fund Denmark (DFF).
The project involves the computational study of protein stability. The main goal of the project is to develop a new protein stability calculator with a target accuracy of ½ kcal/mol (current methods have best accuracies in independent tests of ~1 kcal/mol).
The work will involve substantial use of data bases and programming, as well as an excellent understanding of the physical chemistry of proteins.
Responsibilities and tasks
- Collect and analyze experimental data for protein stabilities of protein mutants
- Develop accurate models that predict the change in stability upon single- and multiple amino acid changes in a protein.
- Develop the computational stability predictor and implement it on a webpage.
- Write papers and publish results in leading journals.
- Some limited additional work (3 weeks per year) in the form of course teaching or similar support to the department at DTU.
Qualifications
- Candidates should have a PhD degree in computational chemistry, physics, or related fields.
- Strong experience with protein modelling and protein chemistry.
- Excellent programming and scripting skills required for implementing the model.
- Several first-author papers in good international journals.
- Commitment to science and high productivity and work morale.
- Strong communication skills in English.
