Job Description
Job Summary/Basic Function: The University of North Texas (UNT) is seeking a full time postdoctoral research associate to study plant defense response. The research emphasis will be on proteomics of plant defense. The Postdoctoral Research Associate will work under the direction of Dr. Jyoti Shah in the Department of Biological Sciences and the BioDiscovery Institute at UNT.UNT is a Tier-1 research university, located in Denton, which is an affordable, safe and family-oriented town of ~136,000 in the Dallas-Fort Worth metroplex. Thus, it provides the advantages of a small town living combined with proximity to other towns and cities in the metroplex, including Dallas and Fort Worth, and two major airports- Dallas-Fort Worth Airport and Love Field Airport.
The successful candidate will:
1) Conduct basic and applied research in plant defense, including molecular biology and genomics.
2) Plan and write manuscripts/reviews for publication.
3) Work with the supervisor on writing and submitting grants.
4) Provide training and supervise undergraduate and graduate student research.
5) Occasionally teach lectures in undergraduate and/or graduate classes.

Minimum Qualifications: We seek candidates with a Ph.D. in either systems biology, molecular biology, plant biology, biological sciences or a related field. Applicants should have expertise in plant biology and proteomics, including protein-protein interaction. The successful candidate must be able to independently design and conduct experiments, have excellent oral and written communication skills in English. Also essential is the ability to work well in a team-based/collaborative research environment.
Preferred Qualifications: Candidates with experience working with plant pests and/or plant stress response are preferred.
