Postdoctoral Research Scientist
Starting salary is £30,751 per annum to £33,000 per annum
(depending on experience)
The Babraham Institute is a charity which is world renowned for its research in life sciences to enhance lives and improve wellbeing.
We are seeking a highly motivated Postdoctoral Research Scientist, to work on a 3-year, BBSRC-funded project in the Florey Lab. This project will investigate the molecular mechanisms though which a recently discovered, non-canonical autophagy pathway controls the immune system, and how this changes with age.
This exciting project will build on important recent findings from the lab (Fletcher et al. 2018. EMBO Journal doi: 10.15252/embj.201797840). The work will involve a range of techniques including fluorescent microscopy, flow cytometry and transcriptomic analysis, to study immune cells derived from existing novel mouse strains. Expert training will be provided for all of these techniques where required.
The successful applicant will have a PhD in cell biology, immunology, biochemistry or a related biological discipline. Experience in the immune system or autophagy fields is desirable but not essential. The successful applicant will join an interactive group in the SignallingProgramme at the Babraham Institute. They will have access to a range of training opportunities, in both scientific and transferable skills, and will be expected to participate in an active programme of group meetings and departmental seminars.
