- Posting Date: Jul 23, 2018
Job Description
Dr. Jennifer McQuade is a Physician Scientist in Melanoma Medical Oncology at MD Anderson Cancer Center. The focus of her lab is understanding the role of lifestyle factors on melanoma biology and response to therapy. Recent high-profile work published in Lancet Oncology has shown that obesity was unexpectedly associated with significantly improved outcomes in metastatic melanoma and identified novel interactions with therapy and sex. Current work is aimed at examining biological associations of obesity in melanoma as well as other measures of adiposity to understand the underlying mechanism of this “obesity paradox.” In addition, the microbiome has recently been shown to impact response to immunotherapy. Current work is focused on understanding how modifiable lifestyle factors, such as diet and stress, may influence the microbiome and response to immunotherapy. The postdoctoral fellow will work on these projects with access to one of the largest melanoma clinical databases and biorepositories in the world, in addition to prospective lifestyle survey collection. Candidate will work in a collaborative research environment with mentorship support from colleagues in epidemiology and biostatistics.
Formal education and research experience in epidemiology, quantitative skills, demonstrated productivity, and strong professional references required. MD Anderson postdoctoral fellows benefit from competitive salary and benefits, a formal, integrated community of trainees, and exposure to leading experts in the field. Competitive opportunities to apply for prestigious funded fellowships, pilot research and travel supplements are also available. Rising graduates, as well as current post-doctoral fellows, interested in clinical and molecular epidemiology are invited to apply.
