Job Description
A post-doctoral opening exists for an exceptional candidate to conduct leading edge research and developement ina variety of challenging power source projects. Some travel required.Required:
+ Ph.D in Materials Science, Chemical, Electrical or Physical Science or equivalent science or engineering discipline + Practical laboratory experience with materials synthesis and processing. + Experience in safe handling of hazardous materials under controlled atmosphere settings. + Able to obtain and maintain a DOE security clearance
Desired:
+ Knowledge of electronics as related to thermoelectric testing, instrument control and data acquisition. + Familiar with various materials processing methods and design of experiments + Candidates should have a strong background in thermoelectric materials, power generation technologies and testing + Strong academic record and relevant dissertation project with associated publications exhibiting relevant experience and effective teaming skills + Experience with thermoelectric materials synthesis + Experience with energy conversion technologies and testing + Current, active DoE L clearance.

Security Clearance:
Position requires a Department of Energy (DOE)-granted L-level security clearance to start. Position requires an active Department of Energy (DOE) granted L-level security clearance or active clearance with another US government agency, e.g., DOD, to be considered for this position. Sandia is required by DOE directive to conduct a pre-employment drug testing, and a pre-employment background review that includes personal reference checks, law enforcement record and credit checks, and employment and education verifications. Applicants for employment must be able to obtain and maintain a DOE L-level security clearance, which requires U.S. citizenship. Applicants offered employment with Sandia are subject to a federal background investigation to meet the requirements for access to classified information or matter if the duties of the position require a DOE security clearance. Substance abuse or illegal drug use, falsification of information, criminal activity, serious misconduct or other indicators of untrustworthiness can cause a clearance to be denied or terminated by the DOE, rendering the inability to perform the duties assigned and resulting in termination of employment.
