A position exists for a Research Assistant/Associate in the Department of Engineering to work on an EPSRC funded project MOTION.
The MOTION project aims to develop medical applications of soft robotics especially for health diagnosis and monitoring purposes. Based on the theoretical and technological bases developed, we aim to develop soft robotic platforms for feasibility tests in clinical scenes. For these purposes, the post holder is expected to conduct investigations and development of soft robot platforms as well as dissemination of achievements through various communication channels. There will be collaboration with project partners which requires smooth communication and team work.
The post holder will help to support and maintain the University's national and international reputation for excellence in teaching and research. The successful candidate will join the Bio-Inspired Robotics Lab in the Department of Engineering, and will be expected to make a contribution to excellence in research. The role holder will participate in the overall contribution of the department/faculty, as appropriate.
The skills, qualifications and experience required to perform the role are a first degree in a relevant discipline and a PhD degree (or about to be awarded a PhD degree) in mechanical engineering, electrical engineering, computer science, material science, or a related area; Expertise is sought in (one or more of) the following areas: biologically inspired robotics, soft robotics, modelling and simulation of biological systems, soft matter modelling and analysis.
The post holder will be located in Central Cambridge, Cambridgeshire, UK.
Salary Ranges: Research Assistant: £25,728 - £30,688 Research Associate: £31,604 - £38,833
Fixed-term: The funds for this post are available for 12 months in the first instance.
