The Biotechnology group is seeking a Research Technician with experience in maintaining eukaryotic cell cultures to assist the expression scale up team with expansion of insect and mammalian cells.

You will maintain mammalian and insect cells in shaker and fermentor-based suspension cultures, expand virus stocks and produce recombinant proteins by infection. You will also help to maintain the infrastructure for baculovirus-based expression, including shared responsibility for the cell culture laboratory, instrumentation, supplies and consumables. The position will also involve assisting with preparation of SGC clones as DNA or glycerol stocks for distribution to collaborators, which includes preparing shipping documents.

You will be joining a team of 12 enthusiastic scientists, who work closely together to achieve the objectives of the group. Therefore, it is important to be able to work as part of a team and to collaborate with colleagues on a range of projects.

You will have a qualification in biology or chemistry or equivalent and proven experience in academic or industrial laboratories, in protein expression (bacteria and eukaryotic systems).
