Job Description

PHYSICIAN-SCIENTIST -ASSISTANT, ASSOCIATE OR FULL PROFESSOR (Medical Center Line or University Tenure Line Professoriate)

Stanford University

DEPARTMENT OF PATHOLOGY

Stanford Medicine is committed to the vision of precision health to lead the biomedical revolution. The Stanford Department of Pathology is undergoing a major expansion in both research and clinical faculty as we embrace this vision. Here, we announce our intent to recruit biomedical revolutionaries to join our outstanding faculty. The successful candidate(s) will have her or his major focus in basic or translational biomedical research, ideally combined with expertise in clinical, anatomic, or molecular pathology, or a research program that extensively collaborates with one or more of these clinical disiplines. The Stanford Department of Pathology works closely with our colleagues in Stanford Health Care, Stanford Children's Health, and Stanford University School of Medicine. We seek ambitious colleagues who are enthusiastic about our vision and are committed to our collaborative approach. Faculty rank and line will be determined by the qualifications and experience of the successful candidate.

The predominant criterion for appointment in the University Tenure Line is a major commitment to research and teaching, although often combined with clinical responsibilities. The major criteria for appointment for faculty in the MCL are excellence in the overall mix of clinical care, clinical teaching, and scholarly activity that advances clinical medicine. Appointment in either of these lines is available based on the applicant's qualifications and career goals.

Successful candidates will join the faculty in the Department of Pathology, which currently includes a Nobel Prize winner, multiple members of the National Academies of Sciences and Medicine, and many other investigators with national and international distinction. In addition to its outstanding research program, the Department of Pathology is responsible for over 3.4 million laboratory tests and 50,000 anatomic pathology specimens annually, with major expansions in out-patient and in-patient care scheduled for 2019. Our department attracts and trains outstanding graduate students, residents, and fellows.

Candidates must have a PhD, MD, or MD/PhD. Applicants should submit your curriculum vitae, as well as a brief description of research accomplishments and plans for future scholarly work. These, with the names of five references (all documents in one pdf file), should be sent to Ms. Cynthia Llanes, at mailto:cllanes@stanford.edu by October 31, 2018.
