The Chow Lab in the Department of Human Genetics at the University of Utah in Salt Lake City is recruiting postdoctoral fellows. We study how genetic variation impacts basic cellular traits and disease outcomes by employing quantitative and functional tools in a variety of model organisms. We are looking for independent, motivated scientists interested in building creative research programs around: 1) Quantitative analysis of the role of genetic variation on the ER stress response; 2) Functional analysis of novel ER stress genes; 3) Analysis of background effects and modifier genes on Mendelian diseases; 4) Functional and network analysis of modifier genes. Postdocs will also be encouraged to develop independent projects that fit the general mission of the lab, with the ultimate goal of independence. The successful candidate will join a rapidly expanding group and vibrant department in the School of Medicine, with numerous opportunities to collaborate with clinicians and other basic science labs.
