摘要:

The Center for Vaccines and Immunity at the Research Institute at Nationwide Children’s Hospital (Columbus, OH) has a post-doc position available to study the hepatitis virus life cycle and pathogenesis. Previous studies by the PI have shown that the hepatitis A virus (traditionally thought to be nonenveloped) hijacks host membranes to evade antibody response and facilitate its spread (Nature. 496: 367-71). A similar phenomenon exists for the hepatitis E virus (Trends Microbiol. 22: 59-64). These novel “quasi-enveloped” viruses create a new paradigm in virus-host interactions. Projects will focus on understanding how the quasi-envelopment affects virus spread and the control of these infections. Opportunities also exist to work on the hepatitis B virus.

Responsibilities: The successful candidate is expected to have excellent technical and communication skills, perform self-directed research, and assist the PI in preparing manuscripts and grant applications.

Minimum requirements: Candidates must have a PhD or equivalent with strong research experience in molecular biology, cell biology and/or immunology. Applicants with experience in virology or innate immunity are particularly encouraged to apply. Competitive salary will be commensurate with experience. Interested applicants should submit a CV, a brief description of their research achievements and interests, and a list of 3 references to Dr. Zongdi Feng (Zongdi.Feng@nationwidechildrens.org)
