Job Description
This position is dedicated to understanding how a collagen-modifying enzyme called lysyl hydroxylase 2 (LH2), which is highly expressed in metastatic cancer cells and promotes the formation of stable collagen cross-links in tumor stroma, creates a hypoxic and immunosuppressive tumor microenvironment that promotes metastasis. Your work will complement ongoing studies in our program project-funded group to characterize LH2 antagonists we have identified on the basis of a LH2 crystal structure and to determine how LH2-driven stromal alterations affect the metabolic state of tumor cells and regulate immune cell recruitment and function. Looking for individuals who are nearing completion of graduate work, have published at least one first-authorship in a high impact journal, have experience in fields relevant to the project, and enjoy being a part of a multi-disciplinary research group.
