Job Description

A Postdoctoral Research Associate position is available immediately with the goal of characterizing genes and pathways involved in crypt stem cell dysregulation in the early stages of colorectal cancer development.

Our approach involves characterizing changes in enhancer usage in colon crypt maturation using ChIP-seq, ATAC-seq and CRISPR/Cas9 genome editing, and characterizing the role of enhancer target genes/pathways in colorectal cancer development using a normal human colon 3D organoid (“mini-gut”) model. The long-term goal of these studies is to develop novel prevention methods for colorectal cancer.

Candidates must have a PhD or MD degree in hand by start date and have demonstrated expertise in molecular and cellular biology. Successful candidates must have effective oral and written communication skills as demonstrated by peer reviewed publications and conference presentations. Experience in computational biology/bioinformatics is recommended.

Required qualifications:
• A PhD degree or equivalent training in Molecular Biology, Cell Biology, Genomics or a related field
• Exhibit independence, creativity and good communication skills.

The candidate will join an interactive group of motivated scientists in the Center for Public Health Genomics https://med.virginia.edu/cphg/ at the University of Virginia.
