Post Doctoral Researcher to pursue specialized research training, education and experience under the guidance of a scientific mentor studying a recently developed human heart research project targeting the development of new patient-specific antiarrhythmic treatment within the Department of Physiology and Cell Biology; in Vadim Fedorov lab plans, designs and executes experiments of considerable scope and complexity in the study of the role of cardiac structure and signaling in the biogenesis and progression of heart disease and arrhythmia; collects, analyzes and interprets data for research sponsored by the National Institute of Health (NIH), as well as by other agencies; identifies and selects problems to be studied; develops and troubleshoots new experimental techniques and protocols; attends research seminars; contributes to manuscript preparation and supports technical writing; participates in preparation of grant applications for extramural funding.
Doctoral degree in a biological or health sciences field or an equivalent combination of education and experience required; Experience in cardiovascular research, including cardiac arrhythmias desired; experience in cardiac electrophysiology and prior training in biochemistry, cellular and molecular biology as well as computer analysis of experimental data using Matlab, LabView, and other programs is strongly preferred. Requires successful completion of a background check. Selected candidate may be requested to complete a pre-employment physical including a drug screen.
