摘要:

Postdoctoral Fellow/Molecular Microbiology/Immunology : Memphis, TN, United States

A post-doctoral position is available in the laboratory of Brian Peters at the University of Tennessee Health Sciences Center. The research focus is on the identification of FDA approved sulfonylurea compounds that can block inflammasome-mediated inflammation. The successful applicant will lead a project aimed at determining the capacity of commonly used anti-diabetic medications to inhibit inflammatory signaling in a variety of cell types and ultimately use these compounds as repurposed therapy to alleviate inflammation during vulvovaginal candidiasis (VVC). Applicants must have experience in cell culture, preferably working with a variety of different cell types (THP1, HL60, epithelial cells). Strong preference will be given to those who have experience working with microbiological agents, handling of mice, and conducting immunological assays (e.g. ELISA, flow cytometry). The applicant should also have excellent communication skills, should be able to supervise graduate students and engage in team-oriented as well as independent work. Practical experience in medical mycology or fungal pathogenesis would be beneficial but not necessary. The University of Tennessee Health Sciences Center offers a competitive compensation package and excellent work environment. Interested individuals should send their CV and the names of three references to: Brian Peters, Ph.D. .
