Post Doctoral Scholar in Medical Devices : Pasadena, CA, United States

A post-doctoral scholar with a strong background in experimental biology/bioengineering is needed to work with a multi-disciplinary team to fabricate and test a temperature sensing skin-patch for monitoring inflammation. The project requires developing novel methods for designing and fabricating biocompatible, organic layers for temperature sensing, and integrating them with electronic systems. The goal is the realization of a biomedical device for diabetic patients to monitor skin temperature in high-risk individuals enabling both timely, preventive intervention of ulceration and monitoring of existing wounds. In parallel, we will explore the use of these patches, to detect temperature variations in response to stress conditions. The project is designed to be from bench to bed-side, interacting with clinicians to target patient need. Experience in pre-clinical/translational studies would be especially welcomed.

The position requires:
- Ph.D. with a very strong research background in experimental tissue engineering, cell analysis.
- Experience analyzing materials biocompatibility and cellular stress responses.
- Ability to design and implement electronics platform for continuous read-out of temperature data. 
- Knowledge of devices for personalized medicine and health monitoring.
