Center for High Technology Materials (CHTM) at the University of New Mexico (UNM) invites applications for a full-time postdoctoral research associate position in the area of semiconductor optoelectronics, and in particular in injection-locked semiconductor ring lasers. The successful candidate will work on development of advanced semiconductor laser sources based on nanostructures for applications in ultrafast fiberoptic communication systems and in future G5 networks. Extensive experience with semiconductor laser design, cleanroom fabrication, and testing is required. Strong publication record is desirable. Applicants should have or expect shortly to obtain a Ph.D. or equivalent degree in electrical or electronic engineering, nanotechnology, physics, materials science, or related discipline. Proficiency required in both oral and written expression in English. Ability to attract funding from outside sources is also desirable. The appointee will join a multidisciplinary research group, with strong interactions with other research teams and institutions.
