Post-Doctoral Associate – Three Year, Psychology Department

The Cognitive x Affective Behavior and Integrated Neuroscience (CABIN) Lab at Northern Michigan University (PI Josh Carlson) is seeking applications for a 3 year Post-Doctoral Associate position. The approximate start date of the position is August/September 2017.

Duties/Responsibilities: The postdoc will help lead an NIMH funded project assessing neuroplastic changes in the brain following attention bias modification training in a sample of high anxiety individuals using MRI. The postdoc will assist in all aspects of the project including participant recruitment, data acquisition (and archival on the NIMH data archive), imaging analyses, preparation of manuscripts, and conference presentations. The research team will include undergraduate and graduate students. The postdoc will be expected to help coordinate the involvement of students on this project. In addition to MRI, the CABIN lab also utilizes EEG/ERP and NIRS/optical imaging techniques. The selected candidate will have the opportunity to develop their own research projects within the general scope of the abovementioned project and the CABIN lab.

Minimum Qualifications: Candidates must have a doctorate or equivalent terminal degree in Psychology, Neuroscience, or related field; and previous research and/or lab experience. Candidates who are ABD may apply but must have doctorate or equivalent terminal degree before position start date.

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities Required: Ability to work with and involve undergraduate and graduate student research assistants.

Additional Desirable Qualifications: Experience/expertise in analysis of neuroimaging data (structural MRI, DTI, & rsfMRI); experience/expertise in anxiety, attention bias, attention bias modification, and/or emotion reactivity/processing; and first authored publications.
