The University of Padova intends to promote and encourage high quality, innovative and ambitious research in Padova through a scouting initiative open to all scientists, with no limits of citizenship and age.
The University of Padova is not only one of Europe’s oldest and most prestigious seats of learning, but also an innovative an internationally recognized center of excellence in most branches of science. Recently it was ranked first among large universities in the Italian evaluation for quality of research (VQR).
It counts 32 departments and offers 40 doctoral degree courses, 43 research and service centers across the spectrum of physical sciences, engineering, life sciences, social sciences and humanities. It employs about 2,000 professors and researchers and invests a budget of almost € 23 million per year in research.
It offers 1,761 laboratory rooms (Biology, Informatics, Mechanics, Chemistry, Photography, etc.) spread over all its premises and a University Library System which provides services with 51 libraries, 565 databases and over 10,500 scientific journals.
What we fund:
We fund research projects for the duration of two years, proposed by researchers willing to launch an independent research and to create their own team in Padova. The grants operate on a 'bottom-up' basis, without any predetermined priorities. The selection will be performed by a panel of 25 international experts.
What we offer:
Selected projects will receive:
• The salary of the Principal Investigator up to a maximum of € 33,000/year (gross amount)
• An additional grant up to a maximum of € 100,000 for research costs.
Candidates profile:
We are looking for excellent researchers in every scientific area who have been awarded their first Doctoral degree within a minimum of 2 and a maximum of 7 years (prior to 1 January 2018) and who are ready to be the Principal Investigator of a research project in one of the University’s 32 departments
