Scientific Manager, Sample Management – Biomolecular Engineering Group

Description
We are looking for a motivated candidate to lead the Biologics Sample Management Group within the Protein Sciences group. He/she will oversee daily activities and further develop a state-of-the-art facility for storage of biologic samples, such as DNA, RNA, and proteins, to support research and drug discovery efforts within Genentech. The candidate is expected to participate actively in reagent distribution and management, process assessments, and process improvements. Experience with standard molecular biology techniques, automatic liquid handling, and a background in process optimization and method development is required. Strong candidates will also have a combination of the following: familiarity with protein biochemistry, experience with project and process management and/or a background in quality control/analysis. The successful candidate will be expected to independently manage a group of permanent employees and long-term contractors.

Who You Are
Ph.D./Post-doc or equivalent experience in molecular biology, biochemistry, or other related discipline with 3 or more years of relevant industry experience is required. Successful candidates will have most of the following attributes: be highly organized, motivated, work independently in a collaborative team-oriented setting, process oriented, and must have demonstrated strong analytical, organizational, leadership, and communication skills. Prior experience in a biologics sample management as well as managerial experience is highly desired.
