The Translational Research Center for Gastrointestinal Disorders (TARGID) is a world leading center in Gastroenterology. The Center of Neuro-Immune Interaction and Mucosal Immunology (Prof. dr. G. Boeckxstaens) is part of TARGID and is offering a full time post-doc position. We are especially looking for scientists with expertise in molecular biology and gastrointestinal physiology (visceral pain).
Post-doc position (GI physiology, molecular biology)
Our research group focuses on the neuro-immune interaction in the gastrointestinal tract in health and disease. The candidate will be part of a team working on the pathophysiology of increased abdominal pain perception in both animal models and patients, with a special interest on the role of neuro-immune interaction. Especially new targets identified by single cell RNAseq of dorsal root ganglia of hypersensitive mice (and patients) will have to be validated and further explored. As part of a clinical gastroenterological unit, a close interaction with clinicians guarantees access to patient material and fast translation of new findings to the clinic.
