The European Molecular Biology Laboratory (EMBL) is one of the highest ranked scientific research organisations in the world. The Headquarters Laboratory is located in Heidelberg (Germany), with additional sites in Grenoble (France), Hamburg (Germany), Hinxton (UK) and Monterotondo (Italy).
EMBL is looking for a research technician to join the group of Dr. Pierre Neveu in the Cell Biology and Biophysics Unit. The Neveu Group studies the dynamics of stem cell differentiation at the single cell level both in vitro (mouse embryonic stem cells) and in vivo (mouse) using fluorescent reporters. The research technician will generate plasmid constructs and stable cell lines in medium to high throughput and will perform other standard molecular biology techniques, mammalian cell culture and biochemistry approaches in support of research studies in the Neveu group. Support for mouse embryonic stem cell culture of the group is an essential task of the job. In addition, the research technician will be in charge of the overall laboratory organization.
Qualifications and Experience
Applicants should have an extensive experience in embryonic stem cell culture and molecular biology (molecular cloning in particular). Experience with high throughput workflows will be appreciated. Familiarity with molecular cloning softwares is required. The successful candidate should be able to work independently, be very well organized and reliable and enjoy working in an international team within a highly collaborative atmosphere. Excellent communication skills and fluency in English are required.
