The Division of Physical Sciences and Engineering at King Abdullah University of Science and Technology (KAUST) invites applications for a postdoctoral position in computational physics at the Spectroscopy and Semiconductor Group. Candidates are expected to have a PhD in Theoretical Physics; particularly semiconductor physics or/and optical properties of semiconductor. In addition, the selected candidate should have a strong background in the First Principle Calculation and the Theoretical Density Theory. We seek a highly motivated candidate who will be involved in a challenged project. He/she will apply ab-initio simulations to understand the effect of defects on the optical and electrical properties of semiconductors. It will be advantageous if the candidate has experience in the molecular dynamics.

Extensive computational resources are required, which are provided by the KAUST facilities, to predict the crystal structure and the optical properties. This will provide the input required for the experiments as well as explain the experimental observations to obtain a comprehensive picture of the underlying physical mechanisms.

Qualifications
The successful candidate must hold a PhD in theoretical physics or other relevant disciplines and must have several years experience in the field of DFT modelling. It will be advantageous if the candidate has experience in the molecular dynamics.

A high level of self-motivation, professional competence and a good command of oral and written English, PC skills, the ability to work in a team as well as alone, and good organizational skills are essential.

Appointment:
One year, renewable annually by mutual agreement.
