摘要:

At AstraZeneca, we believe in the potential of people who share our passion for science. By thinking boldly and working collaboratively to pursue discoveries beyond imagination, you'll develop further and faster than you thought possible. We'll complement your drive and determination to meet unmet patient needs around the world with the inspiration and opportunities to enhance your niche expertise a nd build your skills. So if you're curious about what science can do, come and make a difference.

As a world leader in cardiovascular and metabolic medicines, we're always working on innovative new drugs that will change lives across the globe. To make that happen, we've divided our small molecule research strategy into three priorities: cardiac regeneration, islet health in diabetes and diabetic nephropathy. You'll focus your efforts on making real progress toward slowing, stopping or curing some of the most aggressive diseases that face humanity today.

Keen to broaden your skills in both synthetic organic chemistry and organometallic chemistry in a creative drug discovery scientific environment? You'll be based within our Medicinal Chemistry department in Gothenburg/Sweden and work in the Excellence in Synthesis/Automation team – a vibrant and multicultural group focused on integrating chemical technology and automation to challenging strategic medicinal chemistry tasks. As well as being guided and coached by scientists at AstraZeneca, you'll have the opportunity to collaborate and be mentored by Prof. Lutz Ackermann, at the University of Gottingen, Germany.

You'll have a unique opportunity to strengthen metal catalysis skills at the interface between small molecule synthesis and medicinal chemistry in an industrial setting. You'll develop synthetic methodologies for synthesis of new catalytic systems useful in LSF, and for C-H alkylations in batch, flow and high-throughput. Applying prepared building blocks and generating a toolbox of structurally novel elements to be used in medicinal chemistry will be part of your role. Working collaboratively with scientists from across multiple disciplines, you'll communicate your results both within AstraZeneca via global working groups and externally at scientific meetings and through high impact publications.

Essential requirements

  • PhD in synthetic organic chemistry and/or medicinal chemistry
  • Solid background in classic organic chemistry, highly-rigorous inert techniques, purification and structural elucidation techniques
  • In-depth knowledge and understanding in late stage functionalization reactions, focusing on C-H activation catalysis
  • Strong organisational and interpersonal skills
  • An outstanding track record of research, proven by high-impact publications in peer-reviewed journals, patents and/or talks at scientific meetings
  • Ability to independently design and execute experiments and interpret results
  • Experience of working towards defined goals in an efficient, safe and scientifically sound manner
  • Experience of generating and testing new hypothesis
  • Willingness to share expertise and ideas, flexibility and open-mindedness
  • Experience of presenting results at scientific conferences and publishing scientific papers in high quality, peer-reviewed journals.

Desirable requirements:

  • Expertise in late stage functionalisation techniques and/or inorganic synthesis
  • Knowledge and hands-on experience of organometallic chemistry
  • Proven track record of problem solving and delivery in organic chemistry/medicinal chemistry
  • Previous post doc experience
  • Ability to work in multidisciplinary teams, high levels of collaboration and communication.
