Want to be a post doc in a world-leading research environment at Oslo University Hospital Rikshospitalet?
Post doctoral position (proteomics) at the Norwegian PSC research center
The Norwegian PSC Research Center (NoPSC) at the Oslo University Hospital (OUH) and the University of Oslo (UiO) is dedicated to research on the chronic liver disease primary sclerosing cholangitis (PSC). The center comprises three research groups covering all aspects of research related to primary sclerosing cholangitis, from basic genomic and experimental studies to clinical research and clinical trials. The research environment is world-leading for PSC and counts 15-20 engaged researchers from several countries and specialities.
PSC is a rare condition, but in lack of treatment represents one of the most important indication for liver transplantation. This is the background for the now more than 30 years of research on PSC at OUH, which serves as the only liver transplantation center in Norway. Several features make PSC an intriguing model disease; more than 80% of the patients have inflammatory bowel disease, for which the linking with the biliary inflammation is poorly known. Furthermore, as much as 15-20% of the patients develop cancer of the bile ducts, for which also the cause is unknown.
We are seeking a skilled and ambitious co-worker that will work on the T cell biology in inflammatory liver and bowel diseases, with an emphasis on TCR/HLA interactions. Ideally, the candidate has experience from proteomics applications, preferably both wet-lab and computational aspects. Molecular biologists and biochemists/chemists, as well as medical doctors with wet-lab experience, are all eligble. The post doc will have be responsible for a project portfolio related to peptide elution and identification from disease associated HLA variants in human tissue samples. The work is performed in a broader collaborative context, involving a comprehensive translational research environment with geneticists, bioinformatician and clinicians. Ideally, the candidate should be willing to spend some time at collaborating institutions outside of Norway, but this is not a requirement. The main mentor for the post doc will be professor Tom Hemming Karlsen.
Only applications sent via WebCruiter will be processed
