Loyola University Chicago (LUC), College of Arts and Sciences, Department of Psychology, invites applications for a full-time postdoctoral researcher who will work with Dr. Catherine Haden and her colleagues at Northwestern University, Chicago Children's Museum, and Evanston Public Library on a federally-funded project examining how engineering experts engage young children and families in STEM activities in libraries and museum. The postdoctoral researcher will engage in work that connects with psychology, education, and learning sciences that has scientific and practical impacts. As the project manager, the postdoctoral researcher will be expected to participate at all levels of the work. The postdoctoral researcher will attend regular meetings with the collaborative research team and practitioners at the museum and library, and gain valuable experience implementing research in informal settings using qualitative and quantitative methods. The postdoctoral researcher will also receive training in the use of advanced software for observational research, including Noldus Observer, and CHILDES. The postdoctoral researcher will train and supervise graduate and undergraduate research assistants to develop teaching and mentoring skills. The postdoctoral researcher will participate in dissemination activities for academic and nonacademic audiences to develop presentation skills, and learn best practices in writing competitive grant applications.
