Job Description 

POSTDOCTORAL ASSOCIATE, Center for Biomedical Innovation-MIT NEW Drug Development ParadIGmS (NEWDIGS), to join a “think-and-do-tank” dedicated to reengineering the biomedical innovation system to be more patient-centered and sustainable. The FoCUS (Financing and Reimbursement of Cures in the US) project will assemble teams of stakeholders including industry, payers, investors, patients, and academic researchers to create and pilot innovative financing and reimbursement models for curative medicines in three target area groups (TAGs)--gene therapies, durable oncology treatments, and antibiotics.  Will conduct rigorous research--under the supervision/direction of the health economics and financing researcher and MIT faculty--to design and evaluate models for pilots; suggest, develop, and track impact metrics; meet delivery deadlines; participate in TAG meetings and design labs; assist in pilot implementation/planning; work as part of a team to rigorously evaluate and broadly disseminate learnings to inform real-world implementation and scale-up; and conduct research on innovative incentive and financing tools, market access, adaptive pricing and reimbursement models, health economics and outcomes research, and health policy. 
 

Job Requirements 

REQUIRED:  Ph.D. in finance, health economics, pharmaceutical administration and marketing/pricing, biostatistics, or related field; experience executing research projects involving modeling and simulation designs in the field of health economics and/or finance; excellent written and oral communication skills; demonstrated publication history and experience presenting research; experience with basic office applications, statistics, and statistical programs (e.g., R, SPSS, Stata, SAS); ability to work independently in a multidisciplinary team environment and across multiple projects in a fast-paced entrepreneurial environment; team-orientation; and ability to work with a range of stakeholders outside of field of expertise.  Experience with large-scale data analytics, machine learning, and data visualization desirable.  Job #14346


This is a temporary, one-year position, renewable based on satisfactory performance and available funding.
