Job Description

This is a full-time, hands-on laboratory post-doctoral research position in the Department of Lymphoma/Myeloma. Applicants must have a recent Ph.D. and/or M.D. with focused research on the relevant subjects. The successful candidate will have a track record of productivity in research and have the talent and dedication to take advantage of the vast resources available at The University of Texas MD Anderson Cancer Center and the rest of the Texas Medical Center. The primary duties of this position will be devoted to the characterization of mechanisms used by cancer cells to regulate apoptosis (see Leukemia 2014;, 12:2376-87; J Hematol Oncol. 2015 Jun 6;8:63; PLoS One. 2015 Mar 4;10(3):e0117994; Mol Cancer Res. 2015 May;13(5):809-18; Blood 2011, 118:3107-3108; Lancet Oncol. 2014 Nov;15(12):1311-8). Prior training using molecular biology, cell biology, protein biochemistry, mammalian cell culture techniques and proficiency in scientific writing is mandatory; experience in gene profiling and bioinformatics is a definitive plus.

MD Anderson Cancer Center provides a vast scientific environment to support research programs. Current laboratory projects involve molecular, biochemical, and cellular approaches for deciphering apoptosis signaling mechanisms. Mouse models with the relevant genetic lesions are available to substantiate these projects. Salary is commensurate with experience.
