摘要:

Postdoctoral Researcher in Microbiology

The Elflab is recruiting a postdoctoral researcher with a natural talent and strong motivation to identify and solve scientific problems. He/she will develop quantitative live cell experimental techniques to study dynamic cellular processes at high spatial and temporal resolution. Projects can for example be related to the synchronization of division and replication cycles in bacteria, the molecular correlation of cell-to-cell variation in growth, the search processes in homologous recombination or replication initiation in E coli.

The Elflab is an interdisciplinary group of scientists led by Prof. Johan Elf. The group works with physical modeling of biological processes aimed at identifying inconsistences in the current understating of life at the molecular level, formulation of quantitative hypothesis, and development of sufficiently accurate measurement techniques to test the predictions.

The postdoc will work in close collaboration with microfluidics experts, biophysicists, computer scientists, optical engineers, biochemists and molecular biologists, and software developers but is expected to run his/her own project independently. A strong track record from experimental projects, a passion for science and good interpersonal skills are prerequisites for the position.

Qualifications required:

  • Creative and self-motivated personality with interest in fundamental science
  • Documented experience in experimental bacterial genetics/strain construction
  • Excellent problem solving skills
  • Good interpersonal skills
  • PhD in microbiology or equivalent competence
  • Excellent communication skills in English

Qualifications desired:

  • Skills in synthetic biology and biophysics
  • Skills in biochemistry
  • Microscopy skills

Application should include:

  • Cover letter (aim for 1500 characters with spaces)
  • CV including list of publications
  • Copy of official academic transcripts
  • Names, e-mail addresses, and telephone numbers for three reference persons

The position is initially limited to one year but can be extended.
