BASIC SUMMARY:
The University of Miami Miller School of Medicine's Department of Surgery has an exciting opportunity for a Post-Doctoral Associate focusing on oncology research. This position is responsible for performing research activities and experiments in the laboratory on several aspects of oncology research projects. The Post-Doctoral Associate will be required to learn and execute small animal surgeries to generate humanized mice. Current projects in the lab include HIV infection and narcotics administration in humanized mice and the study of mucosal immune responses, Microbial dysbiosis (16s rDNA) and Mass spectrometric analysis of the Metabolome. Unless already proficient, the successful candidate would be willing to learn these techniques and big-data analysis associated with these studies.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
The minimum qualifications for this position are as follows: Ph.D. in Microbiology and Immunology, Biotechnology, Molecular Biology, Oncology or a closely related field of study in the life sciences. Advanced knowledge and capability to exercise independent judgment when carrying out research activities and performing non-routine and complex laboratory projects. Experience and proficiency in using a computer. Excellent communication skills, both oral and written, with fluency in the English language. Any relevant education, certifications and/or work experience may be considered.
