Cancer Research UK Beatson Institute in Glasgow is one of Europe's leading cancer research centres. It supports cutting edge research into the molecular mechanisms of cancer development. The Institute provides an outstanding research environment, underpinned by state-of-the-art core services and advanced technologies with special emphasis on imaging, metabolomics and in vivo models of cancer.
The Head and Neck Cancer Research group aims to identify novel therapeutic targets for treating non-HPVassociated HNSCC, specifically oral squamous cell carcinomas. We focus on target identification and validation using a suite of in vitro and in vivo techniques, supported by external collaborations with a number of HNSCCradiobiologists, surgeons and oncologists. You will join the team as part of a program to progress novel radiosensitising therapeutic candidates identified using a drug repurposing approach.
You will have successfully completed a PhD in a field relevant to cancer biology and possess a strong molecular/cell biology background. Additional experience in the validation of drug candidates and translational research will be an advantage. You will have published primary research papers on relevant topics and have skills in mammalian cell culture and molecular biology as well as knowledge of cancer models. Training will be provided for all aspects of the work, but you will be expected to be proactive and ambitious in your work.
