美国墨菲特癌症研究中心招聘癌症计算机建模方向博士后
摘要:
Description of Silva lab: Our laboratory focuses on two problems: (1) What is the best therapy currently available to treat cancer patients? And (2) how to manipulate the evolutionary forces that lead to cancer relapse (emergence of resistance to therapy) in order to maximize patient survival? We use a novel combination of ex vivo assays, digital image analysis and computational modeling to study response to therapy and evolution of drug resistance in multiple myeloma (MM) patients treated at Moffitt Cancer Center.
Description of work: Develop computational models for: (1) analysis of sensitivity of primary MM cells to therapy, (2) study the effects of combination of multiple drugs ex vivo and in vivo, (3) assess the different evolutionary forces acting during carcinogenesis and treatment of MM patients, and (4) develop personalized regimens of optimum therapy. The successful candidate will work directly with wet lab team and oncologists, to ensure proper translation of experimental data to models and clinical relevance and accuracy, and is expected to co-write manuscripts and grants with the PI.
Required skills and experience:
· Scientific writing (preferably, first-authored manuscripts);
· Programming experience (especially Java and Matlab);
· Strong mathematical or engineering background;
· Previous interdisciplinary collaborations (preferably in biological sciences);
· Strong commitment to translate bench-side work to the clinic;
· Ph.D. or MD degree
