Postdoctoral Fellow - Microfluidic High Content Imaging : Heidelberg

Job Description

The European Molecular Biology Laboratory (EMBL) is one of the highest ranked scientific research organisations in the world. The Headquarters Laboratory is located in Heidelberg (Germany), with additional sites in Grenoble (France), Hamburg (Germany), Hinxton (UK) and Monterotondo (Italy).
                               
A postdoc position is available in the laboratory of Dr. Christoph Merten: we are continuously developing microfluidic technology for cancer research and personalized medicine. In particular, we aim to develop a microfluidic imaging platform, allowing to couple complex phenotypes of individual primary cancer cells with the underlying genotype (as determined by next generation sequencing). A special focus will be on elucidating tumour heterogeneity and its effect on sensitivity to chemotherapeutic drugs.   More information is available at: www.embl.de/research/units/genome_biology/merten
 

Qualifications and Experience

We are looking for applicants holding a PhD degree in biology, engineering or physics. The ideal candidate will be experienced with high content imaging, optics and cell culture. Furthermore, programming skills (e.g. using LabView and/or MATLAB) are advantageous. The European Molecular Biology Laboratory (EMBL) is an international, multidisciplinary institute. The working language is English.
