Fixed term contract for 18 months

You will join the laboratory of Professor Mohan Balasubramanian in the Division of Biomedical Cell Biology at Warwick Medical School and make a positive contribution to the research, which aims to understand mechanisms regulating actomyosin ring dependent eukaryotic cytokinesis. The work is funded by the Wellcome Trust and uses the fission yeast Schizosaccharomyces pombe as a model organism.

You will have good interpersonal skills and the ability to work well in a research team enjoying critical but constructive conversation and the potential to produce publications in high-impact peer-reviewed journals.

You will have a BSc or equivalent in a relevant field, and have a solid knowledge of basic concepts in cell biology. Extensive practical experience in molecular biology (DNA manipulation and PCR) is essential as well as experience in yeast or other model organism genetics and molecular biology. Prior experience in protein purification, biochemistry or wide-field fluorescence microscopy would also be a distinct advantage. The ability to think clearly and independently and to conduct high quality experimental work, accurately analyse and represent data in a form that can be presented at scientific conferences and / or in papers for publication in scientific journals is essential.
