Post Doctorate RA - Super Resolution Fluorescence and Cell Biology
Pacific Northwest National Laboratory Richland, Washington StateUp to $68,000/year + benefits
Postdoctoral research associate position is available at the Pacific Northwest National Laboratory for investigating molecular mechanisms in intact cells or tissue sections using single molecule and super resolution fluorescence microscopy, as well as atomic force microscopy and molecular biology techniques. The work will be performed at the Environmental Molecular Sciences Laboratory (EMSL) – a DOE national scientific user facility. The research will be conducted in two areas: 1) develop and apply single molecule and super resolution fluorescence techniques to quantify the expression of multiple genes in intact mammalian cells or tissue sections to identify cell abnormality or response, 2) identify molecular interactions at the interface between nanomaterial and the cell surface or intracellular environment in live or intact eukaryotic cells. A Ph.D. degree in biophysics, molecular and cellular biology or related disciplines is required. Qualified candidates will have prior experience in quantitative single molecule and super resolution fluorescence techniques, as well as practice with data analysis using imaging and statistics software, such as MATLAB. Additional required skills include the ability to collaborate effectively on teams; excellent oral and written communication skills; creative/innovative thinking. In addition, applicants should provide contact information for three references from whom recommendations will be requested. The appointment will be for at least one year starting as soon as possible. Apply online at http://jobs.pnnl.gov, position # 304700. For additional information please contact Dr. Galya Orr (email: galya.orr@pnnl.gov).
Preferred Qualifications
The qualified candidate will have experience in the design and execution of cellular and molecular studies in live or intact cells and tissues using single molecule, super resolution and other quantitative fluorescence microscopy techniques or atomic force microscopy. Prior experience with molecular biology techniques and fluorescence tagging of cellular components, knowledge in MATLAB and other image analysis and statistics software, and a strong publication record are highly desired
