摘要:

Post-doctoral position in soft materials modeling

Aalto University - Department of Chemistry

Aalto University is a community of bold thinkers where science and art meet technology and business. Aalto University has six schools with nearly 20 000 students and 4 700 employees, 390 of which are professors. Our campuses are located in Espoo and Helsinki, Finland.

The research group Novel Materials via Self-Assembly at Aalto University’s Department of Chemistry offers

Post-doctoral position in soft materials modeling

more precisely polyelectrolyte modeling, in tight experimental collaboration and funded through the NSF Materials World Network collaborative efforts.

The Novel Materials via Self-Assembly Group at Aalto University’s Department of Chemistry is a newly-formed, dynamic research group. We employ computational and theoretical means to study molecular self-assembly systems for the purpose of developing novel materials for drug delivery and active membranes. Main research methodology include molecular dynamics and Monte Carlo simulations in atomistic and molecular level coarse grained detail. The current active research projects involve modeling and characterization of amphiphile aggregation in aqueous solution, biomolecular interactions with the amphiphile aggregates, charged polymer aggregation and adsorption characteristics in film growth, and carbon nanotube interactions with the biocompatible films. More information on the group and the research in the group available at http://chemistry.aalto.fi/en/research/novelmaterials/moreabout/

The position requires strong expertise in molecular simulations of soft materials systems, such as, polymers, surfactants, or biomolecules. Knowledge of programming and working skills in linux / unix environments are required. We value also expertise in both atomistic and coarse-grained molecular modeling, thermodynamics and statistical mechanics, and source code development. The candidate must hold a PhD degree in computational physics or chemistry, or related field, and have good oral and written command of English.

The position is immediately available with duration of appointment for one year (possibility of extension). The position is funded according to Aalto University post-doctoral pay scale with appointment according to collective agreement on terms of employment in Finnish universities.

Aalto University was formed in 2010 through the merger of Helsinki University of Technology, Helsinki School of Economics, and University of Art and Design Helsinki, and provides an energetic, interdisciplinary research environment. Helsinki is the lively, dynamic capital of Finland with active international social scene, good opportunities for culture or outdoor activities, and reputedly high quality of living in general.

Interested candidates should send their application (cover letter, cv including full list of publications, and references) as a single pdf by email to Maria.Sammalkorpi(at)aalto.fi.
Application deadline is 31st January, 2016, but we continue to accept applications until the position is filled.
