The laboratory of Dr. Eric Pietras is looking for a bright, creative and enthusiastic individual with a PhD or MD/PhD interested in advancing their career by uncovering the impact of inflammation on the biology of blood-forming hematopoietic stem cells (HSCs) as a postdoctoral researcher.

The lab is part of a richly collaborative interdisciplinary group of basic scientists and clinicians from the immunology, hematology and molecular biology backgrounds with significant resources and expertise in understanding normal and diseased blood development.
We are seeking an outstanding individual with a strong background in immunology, stem cell biology, molecular biology or a related field. The candidate will have strong intellectual and technical skills as evidenced by at least one first-authored publication in internationally recognized, peer-reviewed journals. The candidate will also have outstanding oral and written communication skills, and preference is given to individuals with a track record of successfully obtaining competitive funding during their doctoral studies.
Demonstrable dedication to a career related to inflammation biology, stem cell biology or both is preferable, as is experience in mouse husbandry, flow cytometry, experimental hematology and/or molecular biology techniques including high-throughput sequencing. The ability to work a flexible schedule based on the needs of the project is also desired. Recent PhD graduates are preferred. Individuals with prior postdoctoral research experience must have at least one first-authored paper in an internationally recognized peer-reviewed journal from their prior postdoc.
The candidate must be curious, highly self-motivated, technically adept, and committed to excel in a high-impact laboratory environment. The candidate will be expected to perform the following duties:
• Design and implement projects relating to the laboratory’s overall research program.
• Analyze, interpret, and fully document experimental results
• Operate and maintain advanced flow cytometry equipment
• Perform animal husbandry and colony maintenance
• Prepare data and manuscripts for publication
• Prepare grant proposals to obtain independent post-doctoral funding
• Actively participate in and present data at group meetings and conferences
• Work in conjunction with the PI and other lab staff to achieve programmatic goals
