The work will consists in
* collecting a wrist-vein dataset using a new developed sensor for research, development and testing on the BEAT platform,
* develop wrist-vein recognition algorithms and provide support for their transfer to the industrial partner.
Reproducible research is a cornerstone of the project. Hence a strong involvement in data collection, open source libraries such as Bob and in the BEAT platform are expected.
The ideal candidate should hold a PhD degree in computer science, electrical engineering or related fields. She or he should have a background in statistics or applied mathematics, optimization, linear algebra and signal processing. The applicant should also have strong programming skills and be familiar with Python, C/C++ (MATLAB is not a plus), various scripting languages and with the Linux environment. Knowledge in image processing and machine learning is an asset. Shortlisted candidate may undergo a series of tests including technical reading and writing in English and programming (in Python and/or C/C++).
Appointment for the position is for 1 year, provided successful progress and may be renewed depending on funding opportunities. Salary on the first year starts at 80'000 CHF (gross salary). Starting date is early 2016.
